Overview:
The compact 2U rackmount TS-873AeU combines an AMD Ryzen™ V1000 series V1500B quad-core/eight-thread 2.2 GHz processor and dual-2.5GbE connectivity in one chassis. Compared to its previous generation, the TS-873AeU is enhanced with two M.2 PCIe Gen3 x 1 ports for NVMe SSD caching or Edge TPU empowered AI image recognition. Cutting-edge hardware integrated with comprehensive software solutions makes the TS-873AeU the preeminent choice to tackle resource-demanding applications and tasks, such as virtual machines or multi-user intensive access. The space-efficient short depth design makes it easy to install in small media cabinets or places with a lot of cabling.

2U Short depth design
The rackmount NAS has a short-depth design of only 30 cm. It is perfectly suited for installation in a compact rack, or places with a lot of cabling.

The 2U rackmount TS-873AeU has a short depth design of only 11.7 inches (297.4 mm), making it an excellent choice for smaller racks, wall-mount AV rack cabinets, and network rack cabinets. The space saved by the short depth design can be reserved for cabling or ventilation. The TS-873AeU is space-saving for flexible deployment and is especially suitable for multiple locations and applications including offices, audiovisual rooms, and security surveillance recording.
Note: Users can purchase the optional RAIL-B02 rail kit to deploy the TS-873AeU in a 19-inch rack following the ANSI/EIA-RS-310-D standard.

The TS-873AeU comes with two 2.5GbE RJ45 LAN ports that allow you to use existing CAT5e cables to upgrade network speeds from 1 Gigabit to 2.5 Gigabit. 5GbE speeds can also be attained by using Port Trunking.
Two M.2 PCIe Gen3 slots for SSD caching and accelerated AI-powered image recognition
The 8-bay TS-873AeU is equipped with two M.2 PCIe Gen3 x 1 slots, enabling cache acceleration or SSD storage pools for improved performance, or Edge TPU for AI image recognition.

The TS-873AeU supports block-based iSCSI LUN as a reliable, high-performance, and affordable storage solution for mainstream virtualization environments. It supports VMware® VAAI and Microsoft® ODX to increase performance by offloading server loading for ESXi server and Hyper-V respectively.
Optimized performance for VMware Virtualization with iSER
The iSCSI Extensions for RDMA (iSER) protocol boosts the data transfer performance of VMware® ESXi storage and reduces the CPU load of the ESXi server. iSER support can be added to the TS-873AeU by installing a QNAP QXG-10G2SF-CX4 10GbE PCIe card, which uses the Mellanox® ConnectX-4 controller. iSER can provide a significant increase in performance, providing an essential tool to optimize demanding virtualization applications.
Note: To create an iSER connection with VMware ESXi, both the server and NAS require compatible Mellanox® NICs and switches compatible with Mellanox® or supporting PFC (Priority Flow Control) configuration.
